At the Cordelia Foundation, we have always believed that mental health is a fundamental human right. For over 25 years, our mission has been to provide specialized psychological and psychiatric support to survivors of torture and severe trauma. Today, we are proud to announce that we are taking this commitment a step further: the Cordelia Foundation has officially become a member of Mental Health Europe (MHE).
Why This Partnership Matters
Mental Health Europe is the largest independent European network organization working to promote positive mental health and ensure the rights of people with mental health lived experience.
By joining this network, Cordelia aligns itself with a powerful movement that champions a psychosocial approach—a model that sees mental health not just through a medical lens, but as a human experience deeply shaped by socio-economic factors, environment, and history.
What This Means for Our Mission
For our clients—refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of trauma—this membership means their voices will be heard more clearly at the European level.
- Stronger Advocacy: We can now contribute our unique expertise in trauma rehabilitation to EU-level discussions on migration and mental health policy.
- Knowledge Sharing: We gain access to a vast network of European professionals, allowing us to bring the latest evidence-based practices and innovations back to our work in Hungary.
- A Unified Front: In an era of increasing global instability, working alongside MHE allows us to fight the stigma surrounding mental health and advocate for more inclusive, dignified care for everyone, regardless of their background.
Moving Forward Together
Our work has always been about more than just therapy; it is about restoring dignity and helping people rebuild lives that were once shattered. As a member of Mental Health Europe, we are no longer just a local voice. We are part of a continent-wide effort to ensure that “No one is left behind” is not just a slogan, but a reality in mental healthcare.
We look forward to collaborating with our new European partners and continuing to provide the highest standard of care to those who need it most.
