We established the Cordelia Foundation in 1996, as the only accredited Hungarian member of IRCT, to support the rehabilitation of tortured and abused asylum-seekers and refugees. I participate in the work as the medical director. Besides ensuring the international connections, I also treat patiens as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. This is a very diverse job, as we work with multicultural and politraumatized patiens, which requires very innovative skills from our parts. The interpreters have a special role, they have leared to interpret psychology and how to communicate the hidden meanings of words. The Cordelia Foundation support the – probably – most vulnerable members of humanity with professional services, who struggle because of the loss of fundamental trust. This is what we aim to help them with, and assist them to become valuable members a community once again.
